Ridelist is a service by Lenticulate LLC.
In Summary
- We do not sell your information.
- Your information is private by default. There are times when you opt-in to sharing information with others, such as when you register for a ride or create an event. We provide details on how this sharing works below.
- All information you provide will be transferred and stored in the United States.
Registering for events
Contact information shared with organizers
When you register for an event your contact information, including emergency contact information, is shared with the ride organizer. You can update the information that is shared with the organizer during registration or any time after.
We are not responsible for the actions of the organizer with respect to the data you share with them. However, it is part of our terms of service that organizers respect the privacy of your information and only use it for the purposes of organizing the ride, unless they have your explicit consent to use it for other purposes.
Organizing an event
Event information shared with third parties
During creation or event display, certain event information is shared with third parties to enable additional features:
- Geoapify API to do address auto-completion and geocoding functions on the event's meet location. We may also use Geoapify to display a map of the meet location on the event page.
- OpenAI API. If the 'Build event from description' feature is available to you, and you select this option, we send only the event description to OpenAI API to perform an AI-based summary of the fields. Large language models make mistakes so be sure to check the populated fields for inaccuracies.
Publishing an event publicly
Once you publish an event its information, including the contact information of all organizers and ride leaders, becomes accessible to all logged in users of Ridelist. By default, although the event page itself is publicly available, the contact information is not displayed to any visitors that are not logged in to the site.
You may optionally modify the visibility setting in your profile page to make the contact information fully publicly accessible. Public access includes, but is not limited to, any user on the Internet as well as search engines. As detailed in the full privacy policy, we use CloudFlare to minimize bot activity on the site, but this is a perpetual arms race and will not be completely effective.
Furthermore, we have included additional protections to mitigate "scraping" of contact data by bots attempting specifically to harvest contact information from public webpages, but we do not guarantee that the mitigations will successfully eliminate spam.
Data shared with you via registrations
Please respect the privacy of the data shared with you by any registered riders. When you enable rider registration on an event, you will gain access to the contact information (and emergency contact information, if shared) that registered rider chose to share with you. It is part of our terms of service that you only use this information for the purposes of organizing the ride, unless you have the explicit permission of the rider to use that information for other purposes. We wish to foster a healthy community of riders and organizers and may terminate the account of any organizer violating this rule.
